Charles Sobhraj is known as a French serial killer. He was born in 1944 at Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam .His mother was from Vietnam and his father was from Indian origin but later on his father left and he grew up with his mother. His mother later married to French and he went with his mother in French. As Sobhraj grow up, he learns to be a serial killer. He is well known as a con artist and a seducer .Sobhraj children includes Usha Sobhraj. Police believe he killed more than 20 western backpackers on hippie trail through Asia in 1970s and 1980s.Sobhraj is also known as "Bikini killer "in Thailand and "the Serpent' for his evasion. Sobhraj had been held in high security prison in Nepal since 2003 when he was asrrested on charges of murdering American backpacker Connie Jo Bronzinch in 1975.He was later found guilty of killing Bronzinch's canadian friend Laurent Carriere. He was sentence for 20 years in prison but served 19 out of 20 years in prison in Nepal. Sobhraj, after staying nearly two decades behind the bars in Nepal, he is finally released on December of 2022 from prison. The supreme court of Nepal ordered to release Sobhraj citing his old age and the health condition.At present he is 78 years old. His lawyer Isabelle Coutant told now he is free man; he is well told reuters. Afer he is release from Nepal he said that once he reach French he has lot to do.Sobhraj is going to file complaints against Nepal because he had been fabricated in Nepal.
But Sobhraj was suspected of more murders including Thailand where he killed six women in 1970s polce says.Hewas jailed in India for poisoning a group of French tourists in 1976 before he could stand trial on the charges against him in Thailand. The BBC and the Netflix produced a drama series based on the story of Sobhrajs alleged killings. He was also known as a well-known gambler. Sobhraj was known as the Bikini killer and the serpent, due to his snake -like ability to avoid detection by authorities. Currently he is suffering from heart disease and needs open heart surgery, the court says. He was deported to France and has reportedly been barred from returning to Nepal for at least 10 years. A provision in Nepalese law allows a person who have shown good character and completed 75% of their jail term to be released. In an interview with AFP ahead of his departure, Sobhraj said he felt "great "about been given his freedom, but would be seeking legal action against the Nepalese government.
